Pre College Jitters!!!

Today is the day before I move to college! My feelings about this I don't even know! I am scared and excited and anticipating! I'm going to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Lincoln is much larger than our little ranch and there is a lot more people! I have always thought I would never make it this far. That college was just something that I dreamed about that might happen some day. Now it is reality!
I find that when I'm nervous or excited, I need to step back take a deep breath and look. Look at what I have accomplished and what I am about to step into and then think of all the blessings I have and thank God for them. For instance, I am so blessed to have my roommate be my bestest friend in the whole wide universe! I have known Sarah for almost 15 years of my life and we are going to go to college together too! Not having to worry about who my college roommate is quite the blessing! Many people aren't as blessed as I am. God has not only allowed me to have my best friend be my roommate but he has also provided a marvelous church to attend while I am there! The Lincoln Berean Church is pastored by someone who use to be the Pastor at our church that we attend here at home! Amazing!!! I am also blessed to have such great family and friends who will be close to Lincoln should I need anything. But the best blessing of all is the presence of God will be with me always!!! In class and in church, in the dorm room and on campus and off campus! How thankful I am for God!!!
This is a new experience and God will guide me through it if I allow Him to. He will help with decisions and important choices in my life!!! Praise God!!!

What's Been Happening Since I've Departed

I know it has been a while since I've blogged last but honestly with graduation and other personal issues I really forgot about it. Now it is July 7th and I find myself blogging once again. My last semester in high school was quite successful I must say! It was loads of fun! Now I am off on a new journey... TO COLLEGE!!! UNL is the college I am going to attend and I am so excited! I am going to be rooming with my bestest friend in the whole wide universe! Sarah!!!!! She and I have been friends since we were three! or around there. Now we are going to college together! I am going to major Social Sciences for grades 7-12. We'll see how that goes. Everyone says I should be an elementary teacher but I would really like to teach the middle school aged children, that awkward age in life. This summer has also been one of a lot of work! Not only work at Pamida, but also for our missions trip to Camp Witness! That's in the northern part of Nebraska, I believe. Zoe and I were the only two girls there. The boys mostly built things. Zoe and I planted flowers, raked leaves, put up coat racks, and put in toilet paper dispensers. You'd be suprised at how hard putting the toilet paper dispensers was. First the old ones did not want to come out. Secondly, drilling the holes was absolutely difficult... well, we actually drilled a few extra... We made the place look rustic, we did! Anyway, Zoe and I got to know each other very well and I am so glad that we can be really good friends. I think we make great accountability partners! That's about all I have done. Yes, well then, Farewell!!!

In God We Trust

To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up [that which is] planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. -Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 These verses were on my mind for a while. There has been quite a lot of complaining going on. Why complain? God knows what he's doing. He's got a time for everything and everyone, and has a purpose for everything he does. There is a reason for war, for death, for sorrow, and for loss! For instance, there was a reason I was in the car accident. Afterwards, I realized there was a reason I was alive. God has a purpose for my life. I continue to search for God's will, to this day. I screw up sometimes, very true. But God picks me back up every time and we continue our walk together. So I guess, I'm saying God can be trusted. He knows what he's doing. In God we trust.

Organization

Today I discovered how disorganized I really am. Not just how messy my room was before I cleaned it. Also, my priorities have slowly gotten covered with worldly filth. So I am writing a blog to help motivate me. First thing I want to do is find a morning routine that will incorporate God so I am motivated to get up in the morning. Another thing that needs to be done is a healthier lifestyle. I am so sick all the time and I'm tired of it. So I asked a friend for help. Ashley Williams gave me this advice: "well basically I eat as much raw natural food as I can. Eat lots of veggies, fruits, and whole grains. I don't eat pork at all and eat very little beef. Eat mostly chicken and turkey. Also, stay away from carbonated drinks, simple sugars, and fried foods. Of course, I do eat them on occasion as a treat, but as a rule not more than a couple times a week. Also, don't eat late at night that is bad for your body. And stay away from foods you are allergic to. And make sure you are getting all your vitamins, the chew kind because they will digest. This seems like a really strict diet but I've found this is what keeps me feeling good and provides a lot of energy. If you get hungry for a snack, I suggest peanut butter. I eat it all the time, it's a great source of protein. And if your immune system starts feeling low... Drink a vitamin rich drink... There's one that's called Naked that always makes me feel better. I hope this helps! =)" It's quite a tall order but I will do it with God's help! Also I need to exercise more! I am starting to gain wait which I haven't done since I was in elementary. I feel if I live healthier in my body I will be able to keep my mind healthy and my soul. I still have not come up with an idea for my morning routine but if I do I will certainly post about it! And now begins the war...

Christmas 2011

Christmas was absolutely amazing this year! On Christmas Eve, I had to work but I got off soon enough to go to the Christmas Eve service at church. It was amazing! We sang Christmas songs while different people came up and read about the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then we went home and prepared for bed. But Michaella and I did not go to bed for quite a while. I ended up going to bed much earlier than I usually do on Christmas eve because I had a cold and was very tired. My sister didn't get to sleep until about 5 in the morning but we managed to get up around 7:30 and we had to sit and wait until 8:00 just staring at the gifts underneath our beautiful Christmas tree. We kept on looking at the different presents guessing which one was what and and if we had gotten something special this year. Finally the time came to begin. We got the gifts out of our stockings! We each got a bottle of our favorite soda, our favorite candy bar, and a set of headphones! We all needed new headphones too. Michaella's were blue, Jonathan's were green, and mine were pink (of course). We then commenced with the gifts. We each take turns opening gifts. We all got big, soft, fluffy blankets! Jonathan got trucks and this huge John Wayne set and a Nintendo 3DSI. Michaella got a cell phone! She loves it but is a little disappointed because we don't have very good reception at our house. I got these awesome shoes and rings and rugs. The rug is in the shape of an owl and it is so cute! The entire day we spent time with each other and played with our new toys! Overall, Christmas was a success!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Introductions

Hello Everybody!

This is the first time I have ever blogged, so don't judge. lol My name is Katie and I'm 18 years old. I've got two brothers and one sister, all of which can be annoying at times. But that's not unusual, I guess. Michaella (pronounced Makayla) is my 14 year old sister and in the eighth grade. She and I share a room in the basement of our house. We ended up splitting it though so we could live more... tranquilly. My little brother is 7 years old and in the first grade. He really is a cutie. I don't argue with him too much unless he's being really obnoxious. My older brother is 22 years old and lives on the other side of town outside of town. I don't even know if that makes sense, but whatever.
I am a big fan of the colors: red, pink, and purple. Red is first because it's my favorite. I love to read and have fun with friends, good fun not the bad kind. I am a Christian and believe that Christ came to this earth and died for our sins and we don't need to do anything except ask to go to Heaven for eternity. I am like a little child sometimes. I love unicorns, barbie, kittens and puppies, and red m&ms. But I also have a part-time job at a local retail store and am in my Senior year of High School. Right now, we are in semester tests scheduling so I don't need to go to school because I got all A's this semester. How I manage to do that every year is beyond me. I really am not that smart... I think I just memorize and then forget it, which is a terrible habit. Now it is time to take the kids out to the bus.
Talk to y'all later!
